Project Challenges
Magneto was launched in 2019 with support for Magento 1 ending on June 30, 2020, and those who fail to update to Magento 2 will be at many security and business risks. There are millions of companies in Germany facing the same problem running on Magento 1. The same happened with our client, so they need to change it ASAP.
The migration from Magneto 1 to Magneto 2 includes several technological advancements, and was meant to provide a fresh shopping experience. They want a feature- rich website that will help our client improve enhanced performance, website security, productivity, purchase-approval workflows, and many more.
BaryTech Solution
Our client has not a basic level website; it had many conventional products and functionalities, which means it will take longer than the usual four-month timeframe. BaryTech,a web development company in Germany, team worked on the upgrade quickly, making sure there were no errors.
Following processes were accomplished during the website migration:
Moving Store Database
Moving websites and stores, migrating product data (e.g., Product attributes, categories, ratings and reviews, manufacturers etc.), Transferring config settings for each store, Transferring sales data (orders, payments, invoices, etc.), CMS content, and transferring some other important store data.
Migration of Custom-made Functionality
Due to the difference in the platform's framework, Magento 1 third-party extensions and custom-built traits won’t work on Magento 2. It means that they have to be revived from scratch.
Migrating Theme Store
Since Magento 1 themes are not movable to the 2d version of the platform, the owner has to either find a fresh, ready-to-install theme, or accept a new or similar design created from scratch.

Outcome
BaryTech was able to upgrade the client’s website from Magento 1 to Magento 2, in around four and half months. Besides that, we thrive on making the site’s page loading speed faster, and as a result, after migration, the site can handle more orders.
